Crofton
Residential area of mid-century family homes straddling the Stubbington-Fareham boundary, with a community centre, good school access, and convenient connections to Fareham town centre.
Crofton stretches along the northern edge of Stubbington, centred on Crofton Lane and extending toward the Fareham boundary. The name is shared between Stubbington's Crofton area and the Crofton district within Fareham itself, and the boundary between the two is blurred in practice, with residents on either side using facilities in both. Within Stubbington's portion, Crofton is characterised by residential streets of predominantly 1960s and 1970s housing, interspersed with some more recent builds. The Crofton Community Centre on Crofton Lane is an important local facility, hosting clubs, classes, and community events that serve both Stubbington and the surrounding area. The area has good access to Fareham's shops and services via Titchfield Road and Peak Lane, making it convenient for residents who work or shop in Fareham while living within Stubbington's village orbit. Several of the area's schools, including Crofton Secondary School, draw pupils from across the wider district. The housing is largely family-oriented, with three and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes forming the majority of the stock. Gardens are typically of a reasonable size, and the street layout reflects the planned estate development patterns of the mid-twentieth century. The area benefits from proximity to open farmland to the north and west, with footpaths connecting into the wider countryside. For residents, Crofton offers a balance between the village identity of Stubbington and the practical convenience of Fareham's town centre, which is roughly two miles to the north-east.
