Parks and Green Spaces in Stubbington
Woodland, recreation grounds, and open spaces
Stubbington has good access to green spaces for a village of its size, with Holly Hill Woodland Park providing the centrepiece and smaller recreation grounds serving individual neighbourhoods.
Holly Hill Woodland Park is the principal green space, located on the southern edge of the village. The park comprises a substantial area of mixed woodland managed for public access and conservation. Facilities include waymarked walking trails, a children's adventure play area, a visitor centre with a cafe, and car parking. The park is free to enter and is well used by families, dog walkers, and runners throughout the year. The woodland supports a variety of wildlife including woodpeckers, owls, and deer.
Stubbington Green, in the centre of the village, provides a more modest but locally important open space. The green is used for informal recreation, community events including the annual fayre, and provides a visual break in the built environment that reinforces the village character.
Recreation grounds within the residential areas provide playing fields, children's play equipment, and open grass for informal games and exercise. These are maintained by Fareham Borough Council and serve neighbourhood needs.
The open farmland surrounding the village, while not formal parkland, provides a green setting that contributes to Stubbington's sense of place. Footpaths across the farmland to the west and north allow residents to walk into open countryside within minutes of leaving the housing estates.
For larger parks and formal gardens, Fareham's town parks and the coastal promenades at Lee-on-the-Solent and Hill Head are all within a short distance.
