The Village Between Coast and Countryside

Things to Do in Stubbington

Activities, attractions, and days out in and around the village

Stubbington is a residential village rather than a tourist destination, but there is more to do in and around the area than the village centre alone might suggest.

Holly Hill Woodland Park is the standout local attraction. Managed by Hampshire County Council, the park covers a substantial area of semi-natural woodland on the southern edge of the village, with waymarked walking trails, a children's adventure play area, a visitor centre, and a cafe. It is free to enter and provides a genuinely pleasant outing for families, dog walkers, and anyone wanting a walk in the woods without driving to the New Forest.

Stubbington Study Centre, located nearby, operates as a small zoo and wildlife education facility. It keeps a collection of animals including meerkats, owls, reptiles, and farm animals, and offers educational sessions for school groups and family visitors. It is not a large attraction, but children enjoy it and it provides something different.

The coast at Hill Head is within walking or cycling distance from the village. Hill Head harbour, the beach huts, and the coastal path along the Solent provide a seaside experience that is more peaceful than the busier beaches at Lee-on-the-Solent or Southsea. Titchfield Haven nature reserve, managed by Hampshire County Council, is accessible from the western edge and offers birdwatching, particularly during migration seasons.

Within the village, community events including the annual Stubbington Fayre, church events at Holy Rood, and activities at the Crofton Community Centre provide regular social opportunities. The Golden Bowler hosts quiz nights and live music.

For more extensive days out, Lee-on-the-Solent's seafront, the Hovercraft Museum, Fareham's shopping centre, and the wider south Hampshire coast are all within a short drive.
